Saturday night.

Evening all,

Had a beautiful day today (except for the cold wind)…

Broke down and bought a cross stitch pattern.  Magnolia Sampler

This picture does not do the pattern justice.  Faby Reilly Designs website is:  www.fabyreilly.com .  She is in England, I think, but has an etsy store.  She has many designs that I am just drooling over.

I also bought some bead storage containers at the craft store.  I am working on gathering all the beads packages I have and putting them in order, in one place.  YEAH!

Ellen took me out to lunch for all the running around I did last week.  And tomorrow is the Tangle.  Speaking of that, I am stitching something tonight! Got to show some progress on something.

That’s it for now.  Bye,,

Friday, 9 March 2018

Evening, all.  I have had a busy week.

Sunday, my girlfriend called around 5PM, asking me to take her to the Emergency Room.  She was having a pain in her side around the appendix area.  Picked her up and off  we went.  Six hours later, after X-ray’s, Cat Scan, EKG, etc., the doctors figured out she was passing a small kidney stone.  They said it was almost out, but they found water in her right lung, stomach and legs.  Plus A Fib., so they put her in the hospital. I went home while they were writing her orders up to get her a bed.

Monday, after my volunteer hours at the Senior Dog Sanctuary, I popped over to the hospital to check up on her.  Stone gone (YEAH!), but now they needed to get the fluid out, and other stuff I forget.  Made some phone calls to let her family/friends know where she was.  Went to her house to check on her cat and talk to her neighbor about getting the mail and paper.

Tuesday. another history lecture at the Pasadena, MD Senior Center on “Women in History around Baltimore”.  Loved the lecture.  Then off again to the hospital.  She getting better and they say she would be able to come home tomorrow.

Wednesday, a talk on protecting your family’s future at the Senior Center.  I need to review my will, and all that paper work.  Then off to the hospital.  Ellen was ready to go home…….but first, got to get 11 new prescriptions filled.  11!.  Then we went to the grocery store for bread and milk.  Dropped her off.  I think the first thing she wanted to do was take a shower.

Me?  Went home and started my taxes.  I owe both the federal, and the state, but thankfully not a lot.  Then I cleaning out all of my cross stitch fabric that I didn’t want to keep any more, that came to 2 full small bags.  YEAH!

Thursday I went to the doctor’s to have my blood tested on my thyroid levels.  Clean more in the house.  Early night, I was just tired.

Friday, Ellen had two doctor’s appointments to do and then we went to a late lunch.  Got home around 2PM.

Tomorrow is more running around, and Sunday is our Tangle Stitching meeting.  Of course, I haven’t stitch any this past few weeks…..Ahh well, such is life.

That’s it for now.  Bye.

More Stash Out the Door

Well, my friend stopped by today and we loaded four boxes of card making and scrap booking stuff into her car.  I am sooooo pissed that I bought all this stuff that I am now finding and never used.  And I still probably have 4 – 8 more boxes left to get out of the house.  But, one day at a time…………

I made some homemade noodles like Mom use to on holidays.  They are “resting” now.  Will cook them tonight after my “King of Avalon” fighting, which is in a couple minutes.  I like playing the war games on my ipad.  TV is so boring at times, and I don’t like hearing all the bad news and what Trump has done today.

We had high winds all of yesterday, and there were and still are lots of power outages.  I was lucky and had no problems.

Sooo, next big thing is get my taxes started.  And I am dreading that!  Always have to pay, pay, and pay some more.

Tangle is in 8 days and I need to stitch…..but I’ve been up since 3 this morning, hope to get some sleep tonight.  Game time!  Later!

A Very Productive Day So Far

Afternoon!  Today I went to Walmart to buy a new door knob system.  The old one didn’t work anymore, and until I could get paid, I used a towel over the top of the door to help wedge it shut.  So, I just finished installing the new knobs.  It took awhile, until I pulled up a chair and could see the two screw holes to put the screws in.  YEAH! LOL

I also was able to buy a new printer for $49.99.  And installed it, and hooked it up to my laptop, and the wifi.  I’m just rolling along, right?

Well, I had broke my diffuser a few days ago – spilled water on the fan motor.  So they were on sale and I got a new and bigger one.  Bigger reservoir.  I can now smell it down stairs in the living room.  HMMMM, less essential oils in it next time.  It’s a bit strong at the moment.

Lunch time!  See you all later,

Mary

History Lesson: Baltimore’s African American Heritage.

Last Tuesday, February 27, I listened to a lecture by Wayne R. Schaumburg at the Pasadena Senior Center on the above subject.  I wished I had such any interesting History Teacher when I went to school.  Besides talking about the people that I had already heard about., i.e., Frederick Douglass, W.E.B. Du Bois, Cab Calloway, and Thurgood Marshall, he showed us at least 2 dozen other famous people that were either born in Baltimore, and/or lived there during their lives.  He had a handout listing the bibliography he used and the people he talked about.  Also, his website is:  http://www.waynesguidetobaltimore.com

Mr. Schaumburg’s next lecture is on Women in History Month:  The Feminine Touch on Tuesday, March 6.  I’ll be there!  I also signed up for the following lectures:  Protect Your Family’s Future, Emotional Health with Essential Oils, Is Your House in Order?, Backyard Birding, and for $5.00, Chef on the Go:  One Pot Meals.  So I’ll be busy..LOL.

Well, I’m off to start the wash (bummer). and so, see you all later.

Saturday, 24 February 2018

Good evening everyone.  The Olympics are still going on, and I envy how they can ski for 50 Kilometers and still talk at the end of the race.

I have been slacking on the cross stitch.  Just not in the mood.  BUT, I dropped off 3 boxes/bags of things to Goodwill, my friend came by to return the boxes so I can fill them up again with scrapbooking plus I had one box and a carrier ready for her to take.  AND I had a full bin of recycle this week.  This was a good week.

Have been going through my files.  Trying to pitch, shred, or file what I need.  It’s a pain in the butt!

Finally, I started spraying the spots that the cat’s throw up stain the carpet.  We’ll see if it works. A little bit each day and I might be done in a couple years. HAHA.

Take care

15 February, 2018

Good afternoon!  It’s Thursday according to my watch.  I have the Olympics on TV, it’s 60 degrees outside and I have a window partly open for some fresh air.

Yesterday was a good decluttering day…..I donated 3 boxes of rubber and acrylic stamps to a friend, who is really in to the card making, and scrapbooking stuff.  Why?  I don’t have the patience to list one stamp at a time on Ebay, etsy, etc.  I haven’t used them in over 5 years and (if you remember), I’m on a decluttering mod.

So, tomorrow is trash day, and I was a bit lazy last week with getting the trash to the curb.  SOOOOOOO, anyways……

When I started cross stitching in 1986, I was in the Navy and moving around the world. I started buying/gathering all the colors of threads so, in my thinking, I would have what I wanted in case I found a pattern I liked and not being near a store.  Haven’t use them.  So I think some of them have gotten a bit of dry rot now.  So, to the trash bag they go.

Here is a picture of my first cross stitch.  I was stationed at the Naval Reserve Center in Bangor, ME.

So, that’s it for now.

It’s another Monday. LOL

I went to the Tangle yesterday.  The weather was foggy, but in the 50’s.  I presented my finished piece (A Journey with Siebbel).  On the way home, saw a car wreck.  The little red car was smashed flat.  Going to fast, I think.

So, I took the bag of the stash patterns I was donating to the group.  Only brought 5 out of 40 back home, so that’s pretty good.  And I hit my stash pile again and weeded out another 40 patterns.  What’s good is now I have one file cabinet full of patterns and material, when I started with the file cabinet and three storage bins.  I’ll take those to the ocean in April for the stitching weekend.

I have set aside the next few stitching patterns to do when I finish the autumn piece and the one other small piece I have started.  Actually, I have 6 projects coming.  Three are very large (Adam and Eve is one), and one small one of Sweetheart tree alphabet’s (I’m on “E for Egg” I think).  And the two I mentioned above.

I’ll post photos tomorrow or so to show everything.  The Olympics hockey is on and I’m out. LOL

Later,

Mary

Thursday. Enough said.

Well, today wasn’t a total bust.  I shredded another bag, which is always nice to try and get THAT pile down.  Ran the sweeper in the master bedroom again afterwards to pick up the shred stuff that escaped the bag.  Rusty and Sara Sue hate the sweeper and the noise it makes! LOL!  When they run and hid, I get a hour of peace and quiet!!

The phone has been ringing a lot lately, I turn 65 (and have to change insurance to Medicare) very soon and everyone wants to tell me about their product, or get me to donate to their organization.   Geez!  Back off, will ya?

Okay, about my stitching,  still no progress on that!  Actually, I haven’t left the house for about a week now, too cold out and nothing needed at the store.  But tomorrow I got to go to Giant and get my prescriptions – boo, hiss…..

This is what I am working on now, as a break from the Adam and Eve piece.  This is Just Nan’s “Winter Typography” in the first two pictures, and the “Autumn Typography” of hers that I completed maybe 4-5 years ago.  I have the spring and summer one’s all kitted up (meaning I have the threads, and material together in the pattern bag).

Okay, last, but not least, the Olympics preshows start tonight.  So, after I get the trash out to the curb, I’m sitting, stitching, and watching the tv.

Later all…

6 February 2018

Hmmmm. I have been sooooo unproductive the whole last 7 days.  I started working on the tree trunk and it’s just so detailed and a bit hard.  Sigh, well, that’s just not going to continue.  So, I started a load of wash, and going to sweep the bedroom floor.

So, this is a short note.  More later.
