Good afternoon, all.

I’m back from a weekend in Ocean City, MD.  It was chilly and really windy.  There were 25 of us in the hotel conference room just stitching and talking, and (of course) buying new things at the Salty Yarns store.  The drive took a long time coming home, though, the weather people said it was going to get bad, so a lot of people left around noon on Sunday.  Believe it or not, it was snowing during the Kansas City baseball game on Saturday!

Let’s see……the Amy Mitten project.  I just give up on this one.  Was trying to make the ivy leaf to cover Adam’s parts and it looked like a piece of lacy.  Not a solid leaf.  So, I got frustrated, and wrapped it up and put it in the car.  I am giving up on that thing.  Ahh well…..

I purchased some beads at the Salty Yarn on Thursday and finished adding them to the “Winter Typography” piece on Friday.  See the picture below.  Two of the girls purchased the same pattern this weekend.  I am adding the threads I used on this piece to the threads and fabric for the “Spring Typography” piece – it uses some of the same colors.

I completed the Bent Creek “Pink + White” piece – see below.  Onward we go….

Here are a few photos of some of the scraps of fabrics I picked up.  I’ll figure something out later on.  We have a stash pile – I think I talked about this many months ago.  Someone brought in scraps of fabric for the pile, and I ran my fingers through it.

New projects started:  iStitch Designs “Sew a Brown Bunny”, and JBW Designs “Peace at Christmastide.  Photos below.

What did I buy?  Renee Greene “Summer 2017”.  She has designed an Ocean City cross stitch piece every year for about 20 years.  If you want to see all of her designs, go the Salty Yarns website.

I also bought 4 Faby Reilly Designs – “Magnolia Sampler”, “Violet Needlebook”, “Wild Rose Needlebook”, and “Peony Biscornu”  Photos below.

I had a great time, but I was very tired when I got home.  Bye for now. And I thought I figured out the photo orientation!

Friday night, 6 April 2018

Evening all!  I’ve been lazy the past week.  So tired of snow, nice warm day, then rain, snow, repeat.  I can not wait for a little warmer day or two and no more threat of snow…..

Anyways, I finished The Sweetheart Tree’s “Tiny Spring Violet Sampler”.  I’ll upload a photo.

I worked on the Fig Leaf for Adam and Eve’s project.  I got to keep working on it……….

And I started Bent Creek’s “Pink + White” project.  This piece is stitch on 32 count fabric over 2 threads with 2 strands of floss.  The size of the stitched area in 2″ x 2″.  This time, before I started stitching, I ran a black thread around the stitch boundaries every 5 stitches.  I wanted to see if this “helped” me not to miscount.  So far, so good.  Photo below.

When I start a cross stitch project, I always starch the fabric.  And when I’m done with the piece I restarch it.  Always have, always will.

Since I’ve been doing ALOT of stitching, I have listened to any and all baseball games on TV.  It’s nice, and my mom use to do it also – but on the radio.

Well, that’s it for now.  Let me add the photos.  Guess I’m going to have to figure out how to rotate the pictures.

Take care,

Mary

Another 4 Boxes out the door!

I’m happy.  Today, I gave 4 more boxes of scrapbooking paper and stuff to my friend.  And a cart to hold the paper.  I can now walk from one side to another without squeezing thru stuff.  Also, I loaded 2 large bags and a box into my car to take to Goodwill.  It really feels nice to declutter, even if it is one shelf, or one drawer, or one box at a time.

Then I took 3 of Mom’s picture albums and took all the photos out (trashed).  Saved a few of them, and put the empty albums in the recycle bin.

Tomorrow, I am going to a computer repair place to check out what I can do with my old desktop computer, and laptops.  Also printers, keyboards, etc.  Would like to scrub the hard drives, but we’ll see.

So, now I’m stitching and listening to spring training baseball games.  All in all, a great productive day!

Monday and Household Chores

Boy, I hate the time changes.  It takes me a week to adjust…. So, got the wash going, and watching a Spring time prebaseball game.  Washington Nationals and Detroit Tigers.  They are playing in Florida, I think.

I went to the Tangle group meeting yesterday.  It was a nice day, but still a little chilly.  Here is an update on the “Winter Typography” piece I’m working on.

Okay, I know it’s not much further along than the last one, but……anyways.

I’m going to stitch for awhile now.  We go to Ocean City next month and would love to have this completed. (HOPE HOPE). LOL

Later all,

Mary

Saturday night.

Evening all,

Had a beautiful day today (except for the cold wind)…

Broke down and bought a cross stitch pattern.  Magnolia Sampler

This picture does not do the pattern justice.  Faby Reilly Designs website is:  www.fabyreilly.com .  She is in England, I think, but has an etsy store.  She has many designs that I am just drooling over.

I also bought some bead storage containers at the craft store.  I am working on gathering all the beads packages I have and putting them in order, in one place.  YEAH!

Ellen took me out to lunch for all the running around I did last week.  And tomorrow is the Tangle.  Speaking of that, I am stitching something tonight! Got to show some progress on something.

That’s it for now.  Bye,,

Mary

It’s another Monday. LOL

I went to the Tangle yesterday.  The weather was foggy, but in the 50’s.  I presented my finished piece (A Journey with Siebbel).  On the way home, saw a car wreck.  The little red car was smashed flat.  Going to fast, I think.

So, I took the bag of the stash patterns I was donating to the group.  Only brought 5 out of 40 back home, so that’s pretty good.  And I hit my stash pile again and weeded out another 40 patterns.  What’s good is now I have one file cabinet full of patterns and material, when I started with the file cabinet and three storage bins.  I’ll take those to the ocean in April for the stitching weekend.

I have set aside the next few stitching patterns to do when I finish the autumn piece and the one other small piece I have started.  Actually, I have 6 projects coming.  Three are very large (Adam and Eve is one), and one small one of Sweetheart tree alphabet’s (I’m on “E for Egg” I think).  And the two I mentioned above.

I’ll post photos tomorrow or so to show everything.  The Olympics hockey is on and I’m out. LOL

Later,

Mary

Thursday. Enough said.

Well, today wasn’t a total bust.  I shredded another bag, which is always nice to try and get THAT pile down.  Ran the sweeper in the master bedroom again afterwards to pick up the shred stuff that escaped the bag.  Rusty and Sara Sue hate the sweeper and the noise it makes! LOL!  When they run and hid, I get a hour of peace and quiet!!

The phone has been ringing a lot lately, I turn 65 (and have to change insurance to Medicare) very soon and everyone wants to tell me about their product, or get me to donate to their organization.   Geez!  Back off, will ya?

Okay, about my stitching,  still no progress on that!  Actually, I haven’t left the house for about a week now, too cold out and nothing needed at the store.  But tomorrow I got to go to Giant and get my prescriptions – boo, hiss…..

This is what I am working on now, as a break from the Adam and Eve piece.  This is Just Nan’s “Winter Typography” in the first two pictures, and the “Autumn Typography” of hers that I completed maybe 4-5 years ago.  I have the spring and summer one’s all kitted up (meaning I have the threads, and material together in the pattern bag).

Okay, last, but not least, the Olympics preshows start tonight.  So, after I get the trash out to the curb, I’m sitting, stitching, and watching the tv.

Later all…

Mary

Tuesday, 30 January 2018

Hey there!  I can’t believe it’s the end of January already……

I went to my Essential Oils class today, we talked about Immune Support and what blends could help.  As usual, I enjoyed the class and Jennifer made me a blend of melaleuca (tea tree), basil, and eucalyptus to help clear my sinuses in the morning.

Okay, I have been working on “Ten” by Amy Mitten.  It’s been slow going…..really slow going.  See the picture below.IMG_1052

As you can see, I finished the goat on the right side, cross stitched the serpent in, and filled in more of poor Eve.

Next I’ll start at the top of the tree and fill in the tree trunk.  This calls for using the Ceylon stitch back and forth, but I’ll probably just use a Double Running Stitch.  I’ll work one needle full for the trunk, then one needle full for Eve.  That way I can save my eyes from all that close over one stitches on Eve.

There is more work on the serpent using the Trellis stitch.  It is suppose to give the serpent a detached look from the fabric.  We’ll see.

By the way, I am only on Chapter 3 out of 10 chapters.  I have along way to go.

For my decluttering task today, I am going through all the photo albums Mom had of various ski trips, vacations, etc.  No one wants them, so I take out the photos, throw them away, and will recycle the empty albums.

Back to work….

Monday, 29 January 2018

Hhmmm, I cleaned out about 40 cross stitch patterns and got them together in a bag to take to the next Tangle, yesterday.

Today, I cleaned out 1 and a half closet shelves in one of the spare bedroom of papers and junk.  Shredded the important papers I didn’t need and made three piles.  1. tax paperwork and important papers, 2. stuff that are papercrafts, crochet books, and maybe things that I can give away to another crafter, and the 3rd pile is recipes and magazines to read through TODAY.

So, now I did my “homework” and can go stitch.  The Adam and Eve project I’m doing is 40 count over 2, except for filling in Eve which is over one thread with continental stitch.  It’s very tiring on my eyes…….but again, on ward and up ward.  Tomorrow is progress picture day.

More later,

Mary
